**A volcanic island. A devastating plan. An ocean of consequences.**

A terrorist group invades the island of La Palma with a plan to place explosives along a crack in the Cumbre Vieja volcano. In the novel’s scenario, the resulting collapse would send an enormous mass of earth into the Atlantic and unleash a devastating tsunami. The Dragon Fire troops are dispatched to the island to stop the attack before its consequences reach far beyond the immediate battlefield.

### The author’s published description

Group of Arab terrorists invade the tiny Island of La-Palma with the intent to plant explosives along the crack in the side of the dormant Volcano Cumbra Viega with the intent of dropping over 125 millions tons of earth into the Atlantic Ocean to create a Mega-Tsunami and form a tidal wave 75 meters high. The Dragon Fire Troops were dispatched to stop this attack.

## La Palma, the Cumbre Vieja crack and a wave 75 meters high

Operation Dragon Claw joins a military thriller to a disaster novel. A group of terrorists invades the small island of La Palma in the Canary Islands to plant explosives along the crack in the side of the dormant Cumbre Vieja volcano. The aim is to drop more than 125 million tons of earth into the Atlantic Ocean and raise a mega-tsunami, a wave 75 meters high.

The Dragon Fire troops are dispatched to stop the attack. The scenario takes its premise from a real and much-argued scientific hypothesis about the volcano’s western flank, which is why the plot reads as plausible as well as cinematic. The editorial review published with the novel, by Amber Carlisle, describes a story that combines modern terrorism, elite special operations and a terrifying natural-disaster scenario.

## Questions and answers

### What is Operation Dragon Claw about?

A terrorist group invades the island of La Palma with a plan to place explosives along a crack in the Cumbre Vieja volcano. In the novel’s scenario, the resulting collapse would send an enormous mass of earth into the Atlantic and unleash a devastating tsunami. The Dragon Fire troops are dispatched to the island to stop the attack before its consequences reach far beyond the immediate battlefield.

### Could a La Palma landslide really cause a mega-tsunami?

The idea comes from a scientific hypothesis, first published in 2001, that a collapse of Cumbre Vieja’s western flank could send a tsunami across the Atlantic. Later studies have disputed its likelihood and scale. The terrorist plot in the novel is fiction.
