## The Wind Trilogy: Japanese mythology, a female samurai and seven centuries

The Wind Trilogy is historical fantasy in three novels. [Birth of Wind](https://stephenfmontagnabooks.com/books/birth-of-wind/) follows a female samurai through the male-dominated Japan of 1333 to the shogun’s curse that binds her to her sword. [The Wind’s Breathe](https://stephenfmontagnabooks.com/books/the-wind-s-breathe/) finds the sword in Japan in 1996, where its new owner uses her skills against his business rivals. [Night Wind](https://stephenfmontagnabooks.com/books/night-wind/) puts it in the hands of an FBI agent and carries it to the United States, where Wind must protect whoever holds the blade.

The compilation review published for the series by Pacific Book Review calls it an ambitious blend of Japanese mythology, feudal history and modern-day thriller, in which Shinto deities, samurai codes and institutions such as the FBI meet.
