BOOK OVERVIEW

SOURCE PAGE 05

Trump’s Brass Escalator is a high-stakes military and political thriller that continues the events surrounding the Special Forces operation in Iran established in Sandstorm.

The novel opens with President Albert Cole reviewing the evidence recovered from the Iranian nuclear complex destroyed during the previous operation. The material provides the American government with critical evidence concerning Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the weapons-development program uncovered by the Special Forces. President Cole and his senior military and intelligence officials prepare to present that evidence before the United Nations.

At the center of the military side of the story is Lieutenant Robert Walker, an exceptionally aggressive and highly respected Special Forces leader, and Sergeant Dorothy Ramirez, his trusted partner and fellow soldier. Their unit returns from Iran battered and grieving after losing Sergeant Barbara Meyerhoff. The emotional aftermath of the Iranian operation gives the novel a human dimension beneath its military action.

SOURCE PAGE 06

Meanwhile, Vice President Mary Hirshfield travels to New York ahead of the United Nations meeting and takes up residence in the Trump International Tower and Hotel. Unknown to her security team, a criminal organization is preparing a massive robbery of the building.

The criminals are after a fortune in diamonds being held by diamond dealers inside the Tower. Their plan is not merely to steal the diamonds. They intend to seize hostages, exploit the building’s security systems, manipulate the emergency response, and use violence to create an escape route.

Their carefully constructed operation changes completely when they discover that the Vice President of the United States is inside the building.

What begins as a robbery becomes an unprecedented national-security crisis.

The attackers seize the Tower, trap hundreds of civilians behind the building’s fire doors, and take the Vice President hostage. The discovery transforms the criminals’ bargaining position and forces Washington to confront an impossible question: how can the Vice President be rescued without sacrificing the lives of the other hostages?

SOURCE PAGE 07

The FBI mobilizes its Hostage Rescue Units, while President Cole demands that every possible measure be taken to save the Vice President. At the same time, General John White argues that his specialized military forces may be better suited to the increasingly dangerous situation.

When the initial FBI assault ends disastrously and the terrorists demonstrate that they possess far greater firepower than expected, the crisis escalates dramatically.

The President ultimately turns to Lieutenant Walker and Sergeant Ramirez—the two Special Forces soldiers who happen to be trapped inside the Tower.

Walker is given one overriding mission:

Reach the Vice President. Free her. Keep her alive.

From that point forward, Trump’s Brass Escalator becomes a race against time through a skyscraper transformed into a battlefield.

SOURCE PAGE 09

President Albert Cole is preparing to address the United Nations with evidence recovered from the Iranian nuclear facility destroyed during the events of Sandstorm. The evidence demonstrates the seriousness of the Iranian weapons program and provides the United States with material it intends to present before the international community. General John White and the MNRRF have recovered extensive documentation, photographs, equipment, and weapons-related evidence from the Iranian operation.

The political mission brings together the President, Vice President Mary Hirshfield, intelligence officials, military commanders, and members of the Special Forces team responsible for the Iranian operation.

Among them is Lieutenant Robert Walker.

Walker is not a conventional military officer. He is blunt, aggressive, unconventional, and intensely loyal to the soldiers under his command. His relationship with Sergeant Dorothy Ramirez provides another layer to his character. Ramirez is not simply Walker’s partner; she is an accomplished soldier who understands his temperament, challenges him when necessary, and stands beside him in combat.

SYNOPSIS

SOURCE PAGE 10

Their recent Iranian operation has left the unit grieving for Sergeant Barbara Meyerhoff, whose death continues to affect Walker, Ramirez, and the rest of the team.

While Washington prepares for the United Nations meeting, another operation is developing in New York.

A criminal organization led by Michael Van Kirk has planned an elaborate assault on the Trump International Tower and Hotel. The group has studied the building’s blueprints, security procedures, elevators, stairwells, fire doors, and security command center. Their objective is the enormous quantity of diamonds expected to be inside the building.

Michael has also enlisted Alexander, a dangerous Russian ex-soldier, and his heavily armed associates. Alexander brings military experience and a frightening arsenal that dramatically increases the threat level of the planned robbery.

The criminals intend to create the appearance of a terrorist attack while using hostages to prevent law enforcement from immediately storming the building.

Their preparations appear carefully calculated.

Then the Vice President arrives.

Mary Hirshfield is staying in the Presidential Suite while preparing her address to the United Nations. Her security detail has transformed the apartment into a highly protected environment. At the same time, Walker and Ramirez are staying in another apartment in the Tower and meet with the Vice President to discuss the Iranian evidence and her upcoming speech.

The meeting establishes an important relationship between the Vice President and the two soldiers who will soon become central to her survival.

The criminals eventually launch their attack.

The Tower erupts into violence.

Security personnel are killed. Civilians flee. Fire alarms and emergency systems trigger a massive response throughout Manhattan. The attackers seize control of portions of the building and manipulate the fire doors to trap residents and visitors on their respective floors.

The Vice President is inside the building.

Mary Hirshfield becomes the most valuable hostage in America.

The criminals understand that the presence of the Vice President can discourage law enforcement from attacking the Tower. Their original robbery becomes a hostage operation, and they continue searching the building for diamonds while using civilians as human shields.

President Cole is informed that the Vice President has been taken hostage. His reaction is immediate and personal. He demands answers from the intelligence and law-enforcement officials surrounding him and insists that Mary must be recovered alive.

The FBI mobilizes.

Director Hedemann establishes a command center in Central Park and prepares a Hostage Rescue Unit assault. The operation is intended to recover the Vice President first, followed by the remaining hostages.

But the terrorists are more heavily armed than anticipated.

Their Russian contingent uses military weapons to destroy the approaching helicopters and devastate surrounding buildings. The failed rescue attempt results in heavy casualties and demonstrates that a conventional assault could become a massacre.

The situation forces Washington to reconsider its strategy.

General White proposes using his Special Forces assets. But the FBI Director argues that the hostage situation falls under FBI jurisdiction and refuses to simply surrender command. The conflict between the military and federal law enforcement adds another layer of tension to an already explosive situation.

Then the real reason for the robbery becomes clear.

The terrorists are targeting an enormous cache of diamonds being traded inside the Tower. Estimates place the value somewhere between hundreds of millions of dollars and approximately three-quarters of a billion dollars.

The terrorists now have both their fortune and their ultimate bargaining chip.

But they have made one mistake.

They have underestimated Robert Walker and Dorothy Ramirez.

Walker and Ramirez are already inside the Tower.

When they realize what is happening, the two soldiers begin fighting back. Their military training allows them to move through the building, eliminate individual threats, acquire weapons, protect civilians, and eventually establish contact with General White.

The General gives Walker a direct order: reach the Vice President and get her out alive.

Walker and Ramirez accept the mission.

Their route takes them through the building’s interior and eventually into the elevator shaft, where they must descend toward the floor where Mary is being held. Walker is wounded, exhausted, and operating under extreme pressure, but he refuses to abandon the mission.

Their rescue becomes one of the novel’s central action sequences.

The terrorists are simultaneously attempting to protect the Vice President, defend their position, move their stolen diamonds, and escape before the building is overwhelmed by police and federal forces.

Walker and Ramirez must reach Mary before the terrorists can kill her.

They eventually reach the Vice President and begin moving her through the building toward safety. The escape is physically demanding, forcing the soldiers and their civilian allies to use an elevator shaft and climb through the Tower while the battle continues around them.

Once the Vice President is secured, the larger law-enforcement assault can proceed.

Police and FBI forces begin breaching the Tower. The building has become a war zone, with smoke, fire, destroyed rooms, armed terrorists, trapped civilians, and emergency responders converging on the structure.

The criminals’ carefully constructed robbery begins to collapse.

Some of the terrorists are killed during the police advance, and the diamonds they attempted to escape with are scattered among the rubble when Michael and his associates are killed in the basement.

The novel's climactic conflict therefore brings together the story's three major threads:

international military conflict, political responsibility, and a domestic hostage crisis.

The evidence recovered in Iran has placed the United States on the international stage.

The attack on the Trump Tower brings that danger directly into the heart of New York City.

And Lieutenant Walker and Sergeant Ramirez become the soldiers caught between the two worlds.

At its heart, Trump’s Brass Escalator is the story of an international military crisis colliding with a domestic hostage situation.

The novel moves from the evidence recovered during a covert operation in Iran to the political arena of the United Nations, then suddenly shifts into a large-scale urban crisis inside one of New York City’s most prominent buildings.

The central question becomes:

Can the Vice President be rescued before the terrorists turn their robbery into a massacre?

The answer depends not only on the resources of the United States government, but on two soldiers already trapped inside the building.

Trump’s Brass Escalator presents itself as a large-scale continuation of Stephen Francis Montagna's military-thriller world established in Sandstorm.

Its strongest acquisition value lies in its combination of:

Military thriller + political thriller + hostage rescue + urban action + international conflict.

The novel provides an established protagonist in Lieutenant Robert Walker, a continuing relationship with Sergeant Dorothy Ramirez, an expanded government and military cast, and a major standalone crisis that can attract readers even while functioning as a continuation of the preceding novel.

The story also provides substantial visual potential for adaptation into a book trailer or cinematic promotional campaign because of its large-scale sequences involving Manhattan, military aircraft, the Trump Tower siege, FBI operations, Special Forces, rescue operations, and the Vice President's escape.
