Stephen Francis Montagna is an American novelist, born in Brooklyn and drawn to the Florida Keys, whose 21 current books run from Special Forces and counterterrorism thrillers to the female-samurai Wind Trilogy.
Stephen Francis Montagna began writing in 1996. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, and his life later brought him to Florida and the Keys. This is his official website and the complete home of his 21 current novels, nearly all published in paperback and hardback.
Most of the books are military and counterterrorism thrillers. Robert Walker, who leads the Special Forces team of the Scorpion Trilogy, appears across many of them, and the specialized Dragon Fire troops carry three more. Others turn on spies and geopolitics—a water war over the Nile in The Warning of Ramses, an Iranian biological attack carried by eight people in The Vector, a stolen F-18 over the Persian Gulf in IFF: Identify Friend or Foe—or on speculative ideas, such as the time travelers of Beyond Yesterday and the Bermuda Triangle.
The Wind Trilogy is something else again: historical fantasy about a female samurai in Japan in 1333 and the cursed sword that outlives her, found again in 1996 and carried across the Pacific.
An American novelist, also credited as Stephen F. Montagna. Born in Brooklyn, New York, and later drawn to Florida and the Keys, he has been writing since 1996. His 21 current novels include the Scorpion Trilogy, the Wind Trilogy and fifteen standalone thrillers.
Mostly military, special-forces and counterterrorism thrillers, with spy and geopolitical thrillers, a time-travel novel, and the Wind Trilogy of female-samurai historical fantasy.
For military thrillers, start with Eagle’s Talon, book one of the Scorpion Trilogy. For historical fantasy, start with Birth of Wind, book one of the Wind Trilogy. Every other novel can be read on its own.
Twenty-one current novels are listed on this site. Some older retailer listings carry earlier titles and editions; the library is the current catalog.
