THE STORY
A WORK OF FICTION
After a nuclear exchange destroys most of the world’s population, survivors develop a way to reach into the past. Their first attempts to replenish humanity using reproductive material fail. They turn instead to taking people from earlier times, including the pilots of five aircraft that disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle. Each journey leaves consequences in the Atlantic, linking the mysteries of the past to a desperate effort to preserve the human future.
After a nuclear exchange destroys over 85% of the population of the world, the survivors developed the means to go back in time and they start kidnapping people from the past to repopulate the earth as it cools down and becomes survivable again. First, they took eggs from women and sperm from males but they would not survive so they took to kidnapping souls. They took the pilots of the five aircraft that went missing in the triangle and each time they came to get more souls from the past, their entry caused a Hurricane in the Atlantic, but it was the only way to keep the human alive in the future.

READER’S GUIDE
Beyond Yesterday by Stephen Francis Montagna is a post-apocalyptic time travel novel. To save the future, they must steal lives from the past.
Beyond Yesterday is post-apocalyptic, time-travel speculative fiction. A nuclear exchange destroys more than 85 percent of the world’s population. The survivors, waiting underground for the planet to cool, develop the means to go back in time. They first bring back eggs and sperm from the past; when those do not survive, they start taking people.
Among those taken are the pilots of the five aircraft that vanished in the Bermuda Triangle—Flight 19, as the book portfolio names it. Every crossing has a price: each time the survivors arrive in the past, their entry raises a hurricane in the Atlantic. The portfolio names Commander Andy Graff, Dr. Richard Dewitt, General Archie Pairadee and Colonel Jaggers among the survivors, and puts the book’s question plainly: can saving humanity justify taking humanity from someone else?

In part. Flight 19 was a group of five U.S. Navy torpedo bombers lost over the Atlantic in December 1945, the most famous Bermuda Triangle disappearance. The novel imagines that its pilots were taken by time travelers from a post-nuclear future.
